WOW! what a great game, Just finished the whole game, it took me 3 days, spend 7-8 hours with the main game and 1h. 45min. with the bonus game, very long game.If You decide to get The SE, You’ll not miss out on the end of the game, The Bonus was just a extra story.

Graphics where clear and beautifull, great story, voice over where all exellent.

Normally I don’t care to much for Hogs, nor when games are to easy, but this kept You up and going, I liked that You have to intergrate in the Hogs, and even that this game was on the easy side it was still challenging, the puzzles where great.
No penaltry for misclicking.

This is what I’ll call a perfect game.

I don’t know what people are going on about the voice overs, I think they are pretty good as well as the kid (and don’t think he sounds like an adult at all). The game is interesting, interactive and has hooked me in. Bought and am now enjoying. Will come back when finished.

Outstanding game, just finished up! I am so glad i coulf riunate so many lost lovers hearths, I wish I could do the same for myself, though I am not very fond of spiritism in that way, but I belive God’s love can do that, if it’s meant to be, so rejoice to all others too having the same afflictions. Happy new year to all true lovers and to BFG.

No, I do not think BFG would flat out fib about such a thing as several of their games never made it very high on the d/l list

Well, since 13th Skull was released Thanksgiving 2010 & BFGs own criteria for making the list states it’s drawn from the 1st 7 days of sales & none of those occurred in 2011 for 13th Skull, draw your own conclusions about the fibs.

There is ALOT of running around, I mean ALOT.

That’s why the map feature, which actually takes you where you want to go sans running, was a fab addition to this game.

Of course you know there are not 1000 doors

Did you count the ones that disappeared when clicked upon?

There will be 1000 doors when they get thru making a few sequels.

It’s especially grating to hear these “children” deliver dialogue that most adults would have trouble with.

But Sammy’s a genius. So it wasn’t out of character. Tho I did find it odd that the devs expected us to buy that a young child could give consent to spend eternity in the house.

Would be interested to hear from the two ppl who took 7 hours to finish, as I couldn’t see the remaining chapters being over an hour long each.

They get longer. Took me about 6 hrs to finish & I’m not pokey.

When I play I often do not use the book that records observations etc, but I did not notice one when I did open it on occasion

There’s a tab that says *Map* in the Journal. I actually didn’t notice it, either, until a cpl hrs into the game.

I would like more adventure/puzzle and less Hidden O please.

I’d like the opposite.

I personally don’t mind, but a word of caution to some players, some of deaths portrayed in the game are pretty yuchy!!

I thought they were creative. It wasn’t the deaths themselves, but what happened to the corpses after.

And if you hate HOS, as I do, that’s a real nightmare.

Then why play HOGs at all?

aside for the uniqueness of this house appearing out of nowhere, it’s the same old plot as 100 other games.

I disagree. It’s really creepy love stories. Even Ravenhearst has got nothin’ on this game.

The only thing I disliked, & it almost made me not want to continue at all, was at the very beginning where Kate’s *action scenes* were enacted by an ugly jerking Poser wannabe. I so hate those. Can devs bookmark a site of baby names, b/c every other game has a Kate!

I enjoyed the game. I dont care about music or voiceovers, I usually have the sound muted when I play. I am not bothered by occult themes, after all it is only in good fun!

I played this game today and really liked it. One of the few CE’s I own (bought on sale of course).I play hidden object games because I like to look for hidden objects. This game had enough hidden object scenes to satisfy but still had interesting puzzles.

Interactive map was very helpful both to move around and know where to go.

I didn’t find anywhere near all the beyond objects so plan to play again and focus on them.

I don’t mind occult themes, as long as I’m playing as the good guy.

Enjoyable game to start 2012.

Hi, scarlet (O’Hara):

Then why play HOGs at all?

Stay tuned for the new Fontana Theory for an answer to that question. Also, many people here play the games and dislike the HOS, especially when they are a real pain, as they were in this game.

Hi, feenix:

Thanks, I’m glad you liked my description of the HOS. That’s pretty much how they were in this game. haha

I absolutely loved this game. I am an older player and it was right up my alley. The music was beautiful and the interactive map sent me whereever I need to go. I also thought the story line was pretty good and it made perfect sense to me. So this is a 5 star game for m.

I amsure glad I bought & pllayed this before looking at this forum. So many negative remarks but glad to to see the positive. My opinion this is not a occult them. It is clever how they are using a house & many doors to enter the different worlds. If you enjoy the game then just sit back and enjoy.5 Stars— I like most of the CE games.

Hope there is a sequel to this!

I attempted this the first day it came out on BFG but was uninterested and only played about 15 minutes and uninstalled and went back to playing Royel Envoy 2 which is excellent! I decided to give this game another chance today and fell in love with it so my suggestion to some folks is that you might need to walk away from a game some times and try it at a later date before you give it a full judging; you may not be “in the mood” at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, story line and all. The graphics were very good, I really enjoyed being able to us the map to be able to jump to an active scene instead of walking to get there, nice feature! I didn’t use any hints or the strategy guide and it took me all day long to play…between making a nice big dinner, dishes and watching a few concerts on t.v. The “ghosts” talking were all about clearing their names for future generations nother goulish at all, I didn’t encounter any evil monsters lurking about like many of the other HOG I’ve played in the recent past. Enjoy gaming folks and let others share their opinions without being snippity at one another because they don’t have the same one as yours may be.

Good game overall, If you play these games, there is nothing super special, but it is worth it for the Quality.
Decent story, puzzles, voice overs, nice graphics, long game with a long bonus game.
Hints and Strategy guide will speed things up for impatient players, there are over 110 pages in the SG-should tell how long the game can be.
Thanks Alawar Games & BFG for bringing us a fine game!!!

O.K. guys, I am on vacation for a few days and maybe reviewing more than usual!! I am reading the reviews of “1000 doors” and already I’m wincing at the voice overs.!! I think it was reviewer “kklohr” that mentioned the annoying voice overs. I
was beginning to think I was the only one! Anyway, I’m about to try this game. More later!!feenix

I was sooo excited when I first started this game. It is beautiful and the music is just right however there are way to many Hidden O bits. I just get going around the house and bam another one to get in the way. I am close to the end and all most want to trash the game because as you get closer to the end there are even more !!
I would like more adventure/puzzle and less Hidden O please.

Wow, what a great game!! Aside from the horrible voice overs and HOS( which are my two biggest complaints always), I LOVED this game. I thought the graphics were beautiful. I love old houses and mansions and the story line was unique. I also love ghost stories – they are my favorite, and have had a few personal experiences to strengthen my beliefs. Anyway, it took me quite a few hours to finish this game, the mini-games for the most part I found challenging but fun. Hated to see the game end. I had a REALLY good time!!feenix

This was the first CE I’ve ever bought and I bought it because it’s one of the first games where I could actually figure everything out without having to use the SG or a walkthrough. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible and the storyline was written in a way that made it so you could figure out for yourself what you needed to do next. For some players the game is probably too easy, but for me it was just perfect. I don’t like to spend an hour or two trying to figure out a puzzle. If I can’t figure it out within 5 minutes or so then I go to a walkthrough as I don’t have any patience to try longer than that, lol!

Anyway, I definitely feel it’s worth the extra money and have played it through twice already — which is very, very rare for me. Loved it and hope to see more like it. Oh, and I also hope they make a sequel to this game as well.

This is my first post, because I thought this was a great game! Both my husband and I enjoyed it. It was the first time I bought a CE and I thought it was worth it (although it was bought during the CE sale). The bonus game was longer than I was expecting it to be. I thought the graphics were excellent and I appreciated the map to jump to the different scenes. Can anyone recommend other games by this developer?

I really appreciated the lack of sparkles! The story line was much better than some of the games I’ve seen this year and the graphics and music were good too.I thought Amanda was real creepy though. They could probably bring her back in a sequel as a villian.

This was a terrific and exceptionally long-playing game. Graphics were awesome. The voice-overs a little corny, but I liked the little boy….cute. I highly recommend this game for players who are a little tired of short and sweet games. Took my time, used very little hints and found it a good 5 hours long. The bonus ran about 30-50 minutes and added very little to the overall game so I don’t think anyone will be disappointed when the CE comes out as an SE game.
If you liked the demo, you will be a happy fishie…..

I really enjoyed it, and thought it was the right degree of difficulty, nice and long, and the bonus was good as well. Voiceovers were awful for the most part. Didn’t matter, I got this on sale and it was well worth it…..bought it without demo-ing it first based on other’s reviews. So thanks for that!

Way Too Many Hidden Object Scenes (HOS)

[Post New]by Dominick_Fontana on Dec 31, 11 5:45 AM

I see a big difference of opinion with the reviews. I’ll keep my review short and sweet. There was a lot to like in this game, but it was a real turn off for me and I didn’t enjoy it, (although I did finish the game), because of the over-abundance of horrible Hidden Object Scenes (HOS). For me, that made a very good game, tedious to play. On a good note, there was no random-click penalty and the Hint Meter recharged very fast (Casual Mode) and the Interactive Map was also very nice. But despite that, I hated the HOS.

Now, if you like HOS, you’ll probably love this game, but if you don’t like them, I advise you to stay away from it. There were 35 HOS in the game; 28 in the Main Game and 7 in the Bonus Chapter. It wasn’t just the number of the HOS, but the frustration to complete them. Many items require 2 or 3 steps to acquire them; such as find a pair of wings, put them on an angel, then find a needle and thread to sew the wings on, and then take the angel. I hate that stuff. So not only were there a ton of HOS, they usually took me a long time to complete. Even if each one took me 5 minutes to complete (most took more than that) 5 x 35 = 175 minutes. That’s about 3 hours of playing HOS. And if you hate HOS, as I do, that’s a real nightmare.

Another thing was that the HOS seemed to appear at the most inopportune times. The Adventure aspects of the game were good, but it seemed every time you acquired something that you knew would now allow you to move on to a whole new series of scenes – BINGO!, you would have to play 3 or 4 HOS in a row.

There were also a few other things I didn’t like about the game. The voice-overs were ridiculously annoying, there were way too many very long cutscenes, you had to carry some inventory items around with you for hours before you could use them, and the game was sluggish. Changing scenes and picking up items seemed to take forever.

Also, when you were able to Zoom In on something, even after you took everything there was to take, it would still sparkle and you could still Zoom In on it. Usually that means that there is still something you can do there; but no, there was nothing else to do. After you find everything in a closeup, I prefer that you can’t zoom in on it anymore so that you know you completed it.

There are many other games here that offer a better value for the money.

I give it 2 Thumbs Down   and rate the game 5 out of 10.

I bought this CE game for the SE price during a recent special promotion. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.Length was good. Seemed like a lot of areas to investigate and each section of the game didn’t get shorter as in some games. On some games I’ve played the 1st section is almost 1/2 of the game and then it’s like the developers got bored or ran out of ideas so you don’t need to do as much to accomplish the next sections.

Hidden objects – interactive ones were fun, but not much to them. HOs kind of repetitive.

Bonus game was just as long as one of the other sections. That was a big plus.

There were a lot of mini games, but they were relatively easy and nothing I hadn’t seen before in other games.

i agree with others that I didn’t like the occult aspects. Spoiler alert - In the bonus game the player is actually required to interact with a Quija Board and a “death circle” to continue the game. You are from a family of mediums and use these items to contact your dead relatives for information.

Finally, aside for the uniqueness of this house appearing out of nowhere, it’s the same old plot as 100 other games.

Sorry – forgot to mention that you need to highlight the blank area to see my spoiler info.

I very much enjoyed this game. Besides beautiful graphics, a wide screen with no changes, an excellent hint system, the story was also an interesting one. There were more H0s than I like, but at least they didn’t take forever to get thru. The puzzles were good, just a few too challenging for me. I don’t care for those where you click one and a bunch of others move and there doesn’t seem to be any logic to it. I only found 34 of the 35 morphs and they weren’t too difficult. I thought it was a well done quality game and I liked it.
